Jim has been approved for the Commercial, Healthcare and Consumer Rosters of the American Arbitration Association. Jim is an experienced trial lawyer representing plaintiffs and defendants in a broad array of complex litigation, contractual disputes, class actions, statutory claims and commercial torts, with significant experience in healthcare, entertainment, insurance, manufacturing and distribution.
Jim has been lead counsel in numerous national and international arbitrations involving medical device manufacturing, mortgage lending, beverage and product distribution, medical billing, medical labs, hotel development, enterprise software development, and legal malpractice. He also has handled hundreds of cases involving insurance bad faith, healthcare, ownership disputes, copyright, trademark, trade secret, real estate, asset purchase agreements, collections, fast-food franchisee dispute, product defect, software, film production, employment retaliation and discrimination, ADA and breach of contract. Jim offers arbitration hearings in-person or by Zoom. Zoom is an effective platform for holding arbitrations, particularly if multiple parties are needed from distant locations. However, in-person hearings often are more appropriate.
Jim charges $750 per hour for services prior to and after the hearing (reading briefs, handling conferences, writing pre-hearing conference orders, etc). For hearings, a rate of $6,000 per day is charged. Travel costs or room fees are charged at actual cost, and a deposit of one hearing day is required at the time of engagement which will be applied to the hearing or outstanding invoices, but will be forfeited if the arbitration is cancelled within thirty days of the scheduled hearing. I will send an itemized bill each month which must be paid within 15 days.
